چکیده

Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Tomography (TDLAT) is a non-intrusive measurement technique for determining two-dimensional spatially resolved distributions of temperature and species concentration in high enthalpy flows. TDLAT combines infrared laser absorption spectroscopy with tomographic image reconstruction. Having previously been implemented at the University of Virginia's Aerospace Research Laboratory supersonic combustion tunnel, the TDLAT technique is now utilized for experimentation on NASA Langley’s Direct-Connect Supersonic Combustion Test Facility. The tomographic reconstruction of an opaque object as well as preliminary spectral data is presented. Ongoing experimentation on NASA

Development of a Tomography Technique for Application to a Scramjet Wind Tunnel

A tunable diode laser absorption tomography (TDLAT) technique is being developed at the University of Virginia to determine the spatially-resolved distribution of temperature and water vapor concentration in a scramjet combustor. In order to aid in the development of this technique, the present study simulates integrated line-of-sight projection measurements and reconstructs these projections t...

A review of recent advances in semiconductor laser based gas monitors

When first tunable diode lasers were developed in the mid-1960s they found immediate application as much needed tunable sources for high-resolution laser absorption spectroscopy commonly referred to as TDLAS (tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy). Substantial improvements in sensitivity and detection speed have been achieved since then and an increasing number of laser based gas monitori...

Measurement of CO2 Concentration and Temperature in an Aero Engine Exhaust Plume Using Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy

In this paper, the 2f/1f tunable diode laser wavelength modulation spectroscopy is used for the simultaneous measurement of concentration and temperature of CO2 in the exhaust plume of an aero engine. The suitability of the R48 spectral feature of CO2 at 1997.2 nm is discussed for this project and for further application of CO2 tomographic imaging on large-scale aero-engines. To ensure accurate...

Diode laser sensor for process control and environmental monitoring

Absorption spectroscopy with tunable diode lasers (TDLAS) in the infrared region is a well-known technique for the chemical analysis of gas mixtures. The laser provides a high selectivity, which is important in industrial environments such as in-line stack monitoring, where complex gas mixtures are present. A wavelength tunable diode laser in the near infrared region has been utilized as a ligh...
